Answer one-off data questions with read-only access
xAI's Team Bots post describes a Data Bot that answers one-off data questions from your warehouse using read-only credentials, shows charts, and remembers corrections so answers improve for everyone.

The problem
Simple data questions wait days for an analyst.
How the bot does it
From xAI:
- In xAI's Team Bots post, Data Bot uses shared, read-only credentials to query approved tables in Databricks, and also uses Datadog, Hex, and Statsig.
- It remembers corrections to its queries, so what one person teaches it improves everyone's answers.
- SpaceXSI gave it a skills library its data team had built over two years for more than 45,000 tables. A smaller setup will start with less.
- Use read-only credentials as they did. Team Bots need a team plan.
Setup steps
- 1Create read-only credentials for approved tables.
- 2Write down your key metric definitions.
- 3Invite the bot where people ask data questions.
- 4Tell it: read-only. Change nothing.
Example prompt
Using read-only access to [warehouse], answer: [question]. Show the query, the metric definition you used, and a chart. If anything is unclear, ask. Change nothing.
The result
Answers with the query and a chart, from read-only data.

Turn support tickets into product-feedback themes
xAI's support post describes a bot that reads product feedback in support tickets each day and turns it into clear themes for engineering.
Each day, read yesterday's support tickets, pull out product feedback, and group it into themes with ticket counts and two example quotes each. Send it to me. Contact no customers. Change nothing.

Cut supply and software costs with a procurement bot
xAI's procurement post describes Haggle Bot, which shops a recurring supply order across several stores, builds a quantity sheet you can edit, tracks down who owns each tool, and drafts negotiations for your approval. Haggle Bot is an official template in the marketplace.
Shop this week's supply order across [stores]. If you can't find the same item for less, suggest an equivalent from another brand. Put the comparisons in a sheet for me to review. Stop and ask me before paying or placing any order. Any message to a vendor: Draft, I send.

A stand-in for meetings you can't make
xAI lists a meeting stand-in among jobs bots are doing today: it joins a meeting you can't make, tells the room it's there for you, takes detailed notes, and sends you a summary.
Join [meeting] for me, tell the room you're there on my behalf and taking notes, and send me a summary with decisions and action items afterward. Don't agree to anything or speak for me beyond that. Draft, I send for any follow-up.
