Errand and people reminders that fire when you arrive

Users report pairing an iPhone Shortcuts location automation with a routine webhook, so the bot checks your errand list the moment you reach a store or a relative's house.

Last verified: Oct 17, 2026

The problem

Reminders that pop up hours early get swiped away, and you remember the errand after you've already left the store.

How the bot does it

Users report:

  • @mikepat711 created a Grok Bot routine with a webhook trigger. He says when it fires, his bot checks his errands list for anything he can knock out where he is.
  • @SturdeBuilt shared a similar location-based setup.
  • The setup uses an iPhone Shortcuts automation that calls the routine's webhook when you arrive somewhere. The Grok Bot help center documents routine webhooks.
  • Keep the webhook key private. Each run uses some of your usage, so pick a few places, not every stop.

Setup steps

  1. 1Keep an errands list your bot can read, with notes on people if you like.
  2. 2Create a routine with a webhook trigger and copy its URL and key.
  3. 3In iPhone Shortcuts, add an arrival automation for a place that calls the webhook.
  4. 4Keep the key private and start with two or three places.

Example prompt

When this routine fires, I've just arrived at [place]. Check my errands list and my notes about people, and tell me anything I can knock out or should bring up here. Keep it to three items. Don't message anyone.

The result

A short, timely nudge when you arrive somewhere. These are users' own setups, and each run uses some of your usage.

Results are the user's own claim. We haven't checked them.

Go paperless: scan papers and let the bot name and file them

Users report scanning bills and forms with their phone and letting the bot pick a name and folder for each, so everything ends up filed and searchable. One user does this with a Mac mini, another with a Google Drive inbox folder.

Each day, check my [scans inbox folder]. For each new file, read it, pick a clear name with the date and sender, and move it to the right folder. Keep a log of what you filed and where. Don't delete anything, and ask me when you're not sure.

File consumer complaints and prep small-claims paperwork

Users report bots that help prepare FTC and CFPB complaints and small-claims paperwork, always under their own review. This is not legal advice and doesn't replace an attorney.

Help me prepare a complaint about [company] to [the FTC, the CFPB, or my state agency]. Build a timeline from my emails and receipts, fill in the complaint text, and list what small-claims court in [county] would need. Draft, I send. Don't submit or file anything.

Gift ideas that get better each week, plus birthday ordering

Users report two gift setups: a weekly loop that suggests holiday gift ideas and improves from your ratings, and a birthday helper that reads your calendar, asks about the person, and orders the gift you pick. Stop and ask me before paying.

Every [Sunday], suggest five gift ideas for [person] with prices and links. I'll rate each one, and you use my ratings to do better next week. Check my calendar for birthdays in the next [three] weeks and ask me what each person is into. Stop and ask me before paying or placing any order.
